New Music (Continued)

My friend Cliff turned me onto a band called Nada Surf. I had never heard of them, so when he told me their new album, Let's Go, was one of the best albums of 2003, I was curious.

I got the disc yesterday. I've played it four times. It's fantastic. If you like alternative rock with a soft side, then you'll love this disc.

Like too much great music, it's not available on iTunes. I hope they fix that soon.

I saw Nada Surf open for Death Cab For Cutie in Portland. Good stuff. If you like alternative rock with thoughtful lyrics, definitely check out Death Cab For Cutie (or for some electronic-pop with DC4C quality vocals, try The Postal Service). You won't be disappointed!

Oh, jeez. I didn't even know Nada Surf was still putting out records.

I picked up on them with their 1996 smash song "Popular". The album it was on was good enough that not one, but two different people felt the need to steal my copies.

After that, though, they kind of faded away into obscurity, and were commonly referred to as "one hit wonder".

Good ot know their still kicking... I'll have to find that 2003 album.
