Rumsfeld Should Go
The NY Times says Rumsfeld should go. They are right. But it's his boss that should really go. Shit flows down in an organization. Let's hope americans get that right this November.

Indeed. This stinks from the very top down.
Bush has fostered a culture of non-accountability and lawlessness that's utterly shocking and entirely un-American. See Anthony Lewis in today's Times. He nails it.
Bush and Company, Inc. have brought us to the depths of shame.

That certainly explains the entirety of the Clinton Administrations then.

Well said Fred and Mark!
The very idea that the small population of U.S. soldiers who were responsible for handling prisoners were not trained in the Geneva Convetion illustrates the fact that the whole organization is foul from the top down -- including, for the reason spelled out by Mark, the total culture of petulance and non-accountability.
To put it in capitalist/VC terms, it's like having the CEO decide the company needs a new high tech product, so he assigns the plumber to do the job and then shrugs his shoulders and says, "they lacked training" when the proverbial poop hits the fan: totally worthless leadership.
I was hawkish on the war, to be honest, and I still think that the outcome will be positive -- but only if we can get the people who botched the job out of the way and get leaders and partners (yes, I'm talking something other than unilateral action here -- shock!) install a truly "liberated" and "Free" Iraq.
