Jon Stewart via Bit Torrent
My partner Brad swears by Jon Stewart. So does Tom Watson.
The Gotham Gal and I have started watching it. We Tivo it every night and end up watching it when we can.
But yesterday, I found a new way to watch the show. I downloaded the Wednesday show via Bit Torrents. Boing Boing sent me to a blog called Everything Isn't Under Control. This blog is hosting a bit torrent of the part of Wednesday's show where Stewart made mincemeat out of John Ashcroft.
I don't care who you are, Republican, Democrat, Non-political, or something else. You've got to see this piece. It's really funny but it's scary at the same time. We've got a guy who has no respect at all for the constitution running the Justice Department.
That's it. This blog goes off my list. It's not "musings of a VC". It's musings of this guy... Rant, if you want to, but change the cover. When I pick up "Newsweek" I'm not expecting stories of how to make quilts. The "musings of a VC" should be about VC-stuff. That's when its interesting. Take it as editorial feedback. I'm not going to invest any longer.

It's ok to rant, but if you really feel that strongly, run for office, volunteer for appointed position ... do something to make a difference.

You guys are crazy - or lousy at business (or both).
If I think Fred's a great VC, I want to know what he thinks, what technology he uses, and yeah, what his politics are. Ths stuff doesn't end at the term sheet, fellas. Everything IS personal.

If you like Jon Stewart, Lisa Rein has a category on her blog devoted entirely to Daily Show clips.
A journalist aquaintance told me once that the head of CTV News confided in him that his biggest single problem was that more people got their news from Jon Stewart than from his network. The man now has power to match his hilarity.
