I Sure Wish I Had Been There
Wilco and The Flaming Lips played at Madison Square Garden on New Year's Eve.
When I heard about the show back in October, I knew I was going to miss something good.
But I just checked out the Wilco setlist and saw that among a host of covers, they did Judas Priest's Living After Midnight, Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear The Reaper, I Shall Be Released, and one of my all time favorite tunes, Thundercap Newman's Something In the Air.
Damn. I downloaded the show on Bit Torrent. I guess I'll have to live with that.

Looking for the torrent. Where did you find it?

i was at that show, and i can assure you, greatest night ever. but mostly due to the flaming lips who stole the show with their energy and showmanship. wilco was pretty tame.

I was there, and yes. Amazing. The vibe was just.... indescribable. Every once in a while I'd just look up and back around at all the people there, and it was so overwhelmingly positive.
The bootleg that I got a hold of is quite good as well. I get body memories galore when I listen to it. All those tingles along the back of my neck.
I wish I'd have brought my camera; they didn't even check people. I assumed they would, so I didn't to be safe. You could hear everyone say, "Dammit, I wish I'd brought my fucken camera" as they walked through.
It was basically like two distinctly separate sets from Wilco. The energy made a spectacular change after Midnight. Well planned, and executed.
