MP3 of the Week

It's been a couple weeks since I posted my last MP3 of the week.  But it's back to the swing of things for me.

I blogged the Wilco/Flaming Lips show on New Year's.  Unfortunately I didn't get to see them live.

But thanks to the wonderful technology called Bit Torrent, I have been listening to the show for the past week.

The highlight for me was Wilco and The Lips teaming up for a rousing version of Thunderclap Newman's Something in the Air.

So that live version is my MP3 of the Week.

I apologize in advance for the slightly larger size of this file.  I usually encode them at 64kpbs but since this is live and the sound quality isn't fantastic to begin with, I encoded it at 128kpbs which take longer to load.

bet you a ocktail you can't name the movie in which Thunderclap Newman's "Something In The Air" was first used (and also figured prominently)? A 2nd cocktail if you can describe the scene.

I listened to a great braodcast on NPR last night. I was wondering if you are on top of the new "Pod-Casting" technology for live radio. These are blog-like links that carry radio broadcasts. Sort of Tivo for radio. RSS feeds are downloaded to MP3 players or iPods (hence, the term) enabling one to choose the time to listen to braodcasts otherwise missed; such as when (huff-puff) doing a morning run! Are amateur radio buffs are next on the blog scene? Video did not kill the radio star it seems...

Judging from your playlist(s), I would recommend the album Funeral by The Arcade Fire. It's a solid album, a bit moody but with an edge, I think you'd like it.

Dude, thanks for the MP3, I've been dying to hear them cover the Thunderclap since the Wilco Merriweather Show.
