Ben Folds Does Dr Dre
I thought Ben Folds had lost his mind when he hooked up with William Shatner to do Has Been.
But now I am sure he's lost his mind with his recording of Dr Dre's classic foul mouthed rap opus called Bitches Ain't Shit.
Dr Dre's Chronic is on my top 50 list and its my favorite rap record of all time. But it's also incredibly foul mouthed and vulgar.
As this is a PG-13 rated site, I am not going to post the MP3. If you want to hear it, its available on iTunes, where its made it to the top 10 list in less than a week of its release.
But I will link to one of my favorite sites, CollegeHumor.com, where they have a video of Ben's live performance of the song.
I am not sure if Ben Folds is a comedian or a musician. And I am not sure it matters.

As a devout Ben Folds fan, I downloaded the song the night it came out last week. I think I've only listened to it once. I never realized how much Dre swears until Ben Folds put a slow, melodious tone to the whole thing and really pronounced all the vulgarity. I like the original much better...though I am very excited about the new traditional Ben Folds album coming out next week!

Aw, I dig Has Been. Have you listened to it much? I probably listened to it a dozen times when I first got my hands on it. It hasn't come back around yet, but it's sure to be something I listen to on at least a monthly basis.
I've been drowning happily in new music lately, so it's almost been impossible to keep up w/ all that I've been getting ahold of. But, Has Been is definitely something that I was glad to give a listen.

Fred,
You seem interested in music. I recently heard this guy:

He's a Jewish Raggae artist, pretty unique!

I'm not a fan of Ben Folds (I only liked "Air"), but I think his cover of "Bitches Ain't Shit" is a masterpiece! I've heard it like 10 times cuz it's so funny, and it has more of an impact than the original.
It reminds me why I (a kid in ghetto NYC) stopped listening to rap... because music like this is waaaay more interesting.

To "henry" Riight. You think Ben Folds cover of a rap song is a "masterpiece" but rap, man..that's "wack"
Uh, okay.
