Paul Westerberg
My friend Steve got tickets to see Paul at the Supper Club and The Gotham Gal and I went with him.
Another friend named Steve hooked us up with some great seats. But we forgot to bring a camera so all we had was The Gotham Gal's Treo.
Paul put on a hell of a show. It was basically a Replacements concert. At least 2/3 of the songs were from the five records Let It Be through Don't Tell A Soul.
Paul cranked out the songs, never really stopping. He must have played over 30 songs in less than 2 hours.
Highlights were:
1 - Paul switching to drums on Can't Hardly Wait
2 - Taking a request from the crowd to sing Things (from his first solo record), forgeting the words, and getting the guy who made the request to feed him the lyrics
3 - Going from the line "I Will Dare" in Anywhere's All Right (from the new record) to the real thing.
4 - How Can You Like Him from the new record
4 - Ending the first encore wtih Left Of The Dial
5 - Coming out and doing Alex Chilton for a second encore.
God bless Paul Westerberg.

I'm very jealous; they were my favorite band in HS. I haven't seen them (him) live since then.

I saw him at the Warsaw in Williamsburg. Great venue to watch him. He played almost acoustically throughout the show. He even played "Waiting for Somebody".

I've said this before and I'll say it again - there's no better way to watch Paul Westerberg than while drinking Polish beer and noshing on kielbase and pierogies... or anyone for that matter. I'm sore I missed the Supper Club shows. Thanks for the recap Fred.

Although Clarkie and I have a yen for the Warsaw, I wish I saw him play with a band as well, must've been almost like going back in time, were any punches thrown on satge?

You know, I really missed the last show of paul westerberg in orlando, florida. What a sorry place to end it! Is that really the last of the tour? I think it would be much better to end it on a good note somewhere north. How about denver, salt lake city, cincinnatti, st. louis, fargo, omaha, duluth, north minneapolis, chicago or Milwaukee (both again)? Or, there's always toronto, montreal, pittsburgh or buffalo... THIS TOUR SHOULD BE EXTENDED! THE ALBUM IS TOO GOOD AND IS JUST WARMING UP TO THE PUBLIC!
Or how about Albuquerque, spokane, reno, boise, or sacramento?, If nothing
else, another performance in L.A. would be great again as well!

How about another show, this time at the
Chicago house of blues? It would be so cool to extend this tour, for at least part of the summer!

Hey Westerberg, now that we're talking about extending your anti-reclusive tour, why not (or need I mention) bring it to Winnipeg or Calgary, CANADA!
