Bitty Browser

Last night I attended a small gathering of interesting people put together by the wonderful women of Release 1.0.  Thanks again Esther and Daphne.

I met a guy named Scott Matthews who built something he calls "Bitty Browser".

I had heard of Bitty Browser before, but never took the time to figure it out.

Well Scott explained it to me at dinner and in five minutes this morning, I've got a mini browswer window running in my right sidebar, just below my delicious linkroll.

I have my funny videos feed from delicious running in the bitty browser now, but I can change that to display whatever I want.

I am going to play some more with this over time. 

I think its really cool.

Looks interesting. What about anti-virus, things like that? I use firefox instead of IE these days, because of security.

Uh, interesting, I guess. But it doesn't look like it does much more than you can jigger up with some frames. Maybe I'm missing something?

I'm definitely missing something here. I don't want to sound witty (pun intended), but what's the point with re-inventing the i-frame that's been around since god knows when?

And since when is a small sized iframe any good for displaying content - especially content built for desktop resolutions, and not portable (handheld) resolutions? The answer: it never will be.

Someone should stop this madness or we'll see someone re-inventing the table layouts soon.

I honestly believe we're getting to the point where we're raving about applications that solve noone's problems - they just feed the belief that a webpage should be crammed with just about any piece of html-juice it can. Pretty soon, webpages will start looking like christmas trees on steroids.
