Soul Music
I have always loved soul and gospel music.
I just finished listening to Jason Chervokas' new podcast on RH Harris, who according to Jason, is "the man who basically invented soul singing".
If you love soul and gospel music, give it a listen.

I love soul and gospel. I wonder if Jason will ever get around to podcasting, or even discussing the very important act of rocking.

What's with all this rocking? Everybody does rocking. A pretty late stage and very well documented development in American music. What about all this great other stuff that few know about or have heard?
And anyway, who says RH Harris doesn't rock. Did you listen to the version of "Never Turn Back" I played on the podcast? That's rocking the old school way. Where do you thing The Stones et al. learned how to rock? They didn't invent it you know. :)

Jason,
Tony Alva was my guest at my studio this weekend and we were just baiting you. Of course you are right, and we're just having a little fun at your expense. Don't worry, we're covering the 'rocking', you can keep educating us on how we got here.

I know you guys are just riding me.
But it did get me thinking about the whole notion of "rocking." Stay tuned for the next podcast.
