The Fiery Furnaces

Well Last.fm has done it.

I've found a new band to listen to thanks to my "neighbours".

I was browsing this guy's last.fm page and noticed that his top tracks were filled with some songs I love:

War on War - Wilco
Banquet - Bloc Party
Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco

And then four songs from The Fiery Furnaces.

So I went to Rhapsody and played them.

And I really like them.

Thanks to last.fm and Matt Kallman for the tip.

Matt's Top Fiery Furnaces Tracks on Rhapsody.

Fred,

Best site I know for finding new "alternative" music is www.pitchforkmedia.com. Try it if you haven't already.

Cheers

The Furnaces are really great live. If you have the oppty to see them, I suggest taking it. I've seen them twice now, the last time with my 9-month pregnant wife. The first time they opened for the Shins at the Warfield in SF. They played their entire set continuously for an hour as if it were one song. The audience was blown away - no one knew what to make of them.

I saw them open for Spoon and Crooked Fingers last year. I can't seem to *get* The Fiery Furnaces but plenty of people do.
