The Ricky Gervais Show

I read about this new podcast on Nivi's blog.

I have never heard of Ricky Gervais before.  I suppose that makes me a luddite.

But this guy and his buddies are hysterical.  I put on my iPod, headed to work, and laughed all the way up Fifth Avenue.

I have always loved British humor. And this is really good british humor.

Here is a link to the podcast web page.

And if you want to put it into iTunes, enter this into the subscribe to podcast field.

I like this better than Howard and I don't need to subscribe to Sirius either.

If today is the day for British humour (sic) then you should listen to this from BBC Radio 4's Today programme. This is liberal safe only. If you believe that R4 is the haven of old world socialists with not a kind word to be said about the US - then this will confirm your view. It is however just plain funny:

I hadn't heard of him until a couple of months ago, when someone sent me his website. I then realized he was the boss from The Office, and I indeed felt like a luddite. Since then, I have been hooked on "Extras", since it has been on HBO after Curb.

Gervais is painfully funny. Do watch the old BBC version of The Office (the NBC version pales in comparison) and be sure to catch Extras on HBO (perhaps the most original comedy series in years). He's urbane and witty with an amazing sense of comedic timing. Couple that with a knack for saying exactly the wrong thing at precisely the wrong time, and you have Larry David with an accent, minus the whining. And Gervais's humor is heightened for me because when he speaks quickly I can only catch every third word (that is English he's speaking, isn't it?!?!). Gervais is up there in my book right next to Eddie Izzard. A rare talent.

Fred -

Get home tonight and pull up Extras on HBO on demand (Comcast) Its a pilot of his new HBO show - 6 episodes - a complete wheeze. If you want to go a bit further out, get Phoenix nights with a chap called Peter Kay - absolutely hilrious.

I concur. Gervais, Izzard, and Ali G are the funniest comedians working today. I love Larry David, but outside of his show, Americans are losing the comedy battle.

You've never heard of Ricky Gervais, and you've always enjoyed british humor?!?! That's almost a contradiction! ;-)

Do yourself a huge favor and go buy "The Office", both series 1 and 2. The British version, of course. You absolutely won't regret it. And if you do, I'll personally reimburse you.

Hahaha Extras rules...Ricky Gervais is great...

I also recommend you check out:

Little Britain
and my current personal favourite: Peep Show

Enjoy.

got the little Britain DVD - the hypnotist is the best skit. Still prefer the Office christmas special as the funniest Christmas (woops holiday) special since fools and horses

The Office is the funniest TV show I've ever seen -- it routinely made me cry laughing. Extras is way up there too. Buy The Office DVD box set; highly recommended.

hello. i am british. actually from manchester, like karl from the podcast is. rickey gervais is a bit weird...lots of people think hes brilliant but his humour is just a bit dry for me. sometimes its hard to tell if hes joking or not.

i do like little britain but if you want pure brilliance then watch Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. Such a funny sitcom.

and as for peter kay....i hate him. so much!!

nice blog xx
