The Best Rice Krispies Ad Ever

I read about this video in the Sunday Times and made a mental note to check it out. Then Gabe from BallBug, Memeorandum, etc commented on my Ballbug post with the exact link.  Thanks Gabe.

okay, what am i missing? that was 10-15 seconds i can never regain...i'm still wondering why anyone would find that video clip interesting?

Posted by: erin | Apr 4, 2006 10:57:34 AM

Erin: You're missing that it's the Rolling Stones doing a Rice Krispies ad. The song is great. I would be interested in learing more about how the ad came about. Was it something the Stones agreed to for fun/profit or did then do it against their will becasue of some contractual obligation?

Erin,

You must have been born after 1975...

I g=had no idea this existed. Way cool.

It just goes to show that The Stones have always had a little snap, crackle. an pop.

This is so cool! I found the audio of the jingle a couple years ago but it's great to see the original commercial spot. This is from an innocent/less cynical time, way BEFORE the Stones' very first real "sellout," in 1981 when Jovan perfume sponsored a tour.

Posted by: GFR | Jun 1, 2006 2:41:10 PM

Hello, There is a few bars of what sounds like humming on the newest Rice Krispies Ad. At the end the narrator says, "Childhood is calling"....Does anyone know the name of the music or who recorded it ? I've seen it for about the last 3 weeks. BB

The song is "Somewhere over the rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (Iz, for short)

Thanks for the help finding out who does this song. I am a mom to three little ones aged 6,3.5 and a 1 year old, the commercial always melts my heart especially with this particular version of the song. It reminds me that they will not be little forever:> I think that it may have been featured on an episode of ER from a few years back where
Dr.Greene dies but, I must say it is absolutely beautiful and i intend to download it on my computer for the kids and I to enjoy!
