Groking Wikipedia (continued)
There is now a full blown discussion of whether the page I made on myself on Wikipedia yesterday should be deleted or not.
Frankly, it's a pretty good discussion. Lot's of pros and cons. Balanced. And pretty civil.
I am glad I dove into this. Wikipedia is a fascinating phenomenon and I am starting to get an education in the way the community works.

"Metapuppetry" is an asining phrase if ever I heard one.

It does seem like you are violating one of the terms of participation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:SOCK#Accounts_created_by_brand_new_users_acting_together_.28.27meatpuppets.27.29):
"It is considered highly inappropriate or unacceptable to externally advertise Wikipedia articles that are being debated, or where one wishes to stir up debate, in order to attract users with likely known views and bias, in order to strengthen one side of a debate and influence consensus or discussion."
You could question the merits/demerits of the policy, but that is another discussion, I think posting the url to the discussion on your blog - even if you not actively soliciting support - could be construed as an attempt to skew the discussion.

Nonsense - if it's open it's open - if it's not, it's not. Let's not pretend at open source info and then close the doors...

Fred,
I'm an anthropologist that specializes in studying the public relations habits of the fun lovin' homonid species known as homoventurcapitalis.
Why don't I write a Wikipedia entry about the East Coast tribe of Homoventurcapitalis NewYorkitus and include you in there?

Yes, the wikipedia community is pretty hostile to people who enter, or even edit their own entry (as I learned when I edited mine--purely in the interest of accuracy of course :). But it will blow over.
Of course, if you wanted to increase your cred with the wikipedia community, you could enter a bunch of profiles of other prominent VCs... something someone should do, surely. In your copious spare time, of course.

It may be time to push back (in a Wikipedia approved way) by publishing a listing of major East Coast VCs under a general article titled "Venture Capitalist"
Can Wikipedia users then link to a subsection of that article?
