The Highline Festival

The Highline is the old elevated train track that runs up the west side from Greenwich Village through Chelsea and ends at Hudson Yards, where they wanted to build the Jets stadium several years ago.

It's a very cool space that is being turned into an elevated park. This is a photo of it.

In May of this year (specifically May 9th to May 19th), David Bowie is hosting The Highline Festival.

As cool as that pairing is, I just found out via Brooklyn Vegan that Daniel Johnston is coming up to NYC to play the festival. Now that is cool!

Also, it appears that Arcade Fire and TV On The Radio are headlining the festival.

This is so great. I have to figure out how to get tickets now. If you have any ideas, let me know in the comments.

You should check out the documentary entitled "The Devil and Daniel Johnston." I watched it this past weekend. It tells Daniel's remarkable story. It's quite amazing.

At this later stage of his career Mr. Bowie live is even more thrilling than was the artist as a young man. He's still got the edgy art rock thing alright, but he's evolved into a truly superb performer for the ages, and his obvious love for a variety of influences -- Broadway, Sinatra, etc., not just rock and roll -- makes for terrific shows.

Saw Bowie tour with Moby just a year or two ago.

Poor Moby.

If you would like to email me at eventmanager@shaw.ca I can definately get you tickets.

Thanks,

Do you know is this also the area where the High Line Ballroom is located? I just saw that a band I like might be playing there and can't find any info on this place at all, no website available. Any info would be great...
Thanks,
Kathy N.

Hey, here is the address of the festival:
HighLine Ballroom, 431 W. 16th Street, New York, NY, 10011

you have to google other info bc the highline festival page is not up yet.

The website is up, and tickets go on sale this Friday, March 30th at 10 AM.
