Because Of The Times

B000mra3nu01_sclzzzzzzz_v42452090_aI am digging the new Kings of Leon record, called Because Of The Times.

I've added it to my In Heavy Rotation widget on the left sidebar.

I posted a Kings Of Leon track that didn't make it on the record a couple weeks ago. At that time, I wasn't so enamored of the new record. I am now.

They are what you'd get if you combined Pearl Jam with My Morning Jacket. Awesome stuff.

Here's a live performance of the song On Call last month on Letterman:

it's a very fine album indeed, fred ... myself and my brother-in-law are off to see them this evening in manchester (ie, in good ole blighty).

in theory it should be one of the best gigs so far this year, i hope.

will let you know!

love it.

there's totally a 'classic rock' vibe coming back around.

have you heard the new sloan yet?

oh dear, oh dear. sorry to have to report it was a very average to poor gig last night by the leon lads.

very poor acoustics at the apollo didn't help (most out of character - we love the place for its usually impeccable sound quality).

leon doing a whole 60 minutes set didn't exactly help, either. one hour? thanks, guys. wow. (sic).

ah well ...

Pearl Jam crossed with My Morning Jacket? That's high praise indeed. I'm inclined to say they're more like Ozark Mountain Daredevils crossed with The Cure.

I've had this rec for a week or so and I quite like it, though it's not as good as Aha Shake Heartbreak. Still one of my favorite bands though...
