Twitterrific

Twitterrific_icon Sometimes it takes me a bit longer than others to figure things out. I've been a twitter user for the past couple months, but only used the web and SMS to send and receive twitter messages.

I finally got around to downloading and installing Twitterrific on my macbook last week. It's changed my use of twitter. Now twitter feels like IM to me. I've got a client on my machine that notifies me in a fairly unintrusive way when I get new twitter messages. The cool thing is I don't need to reply.

I really like it.

I loves me some twitterrific! It's a great way for people to work on their wit...

Alright, you're a vc. Please, explain twitter to me. All respect to Biz Stone, but I just don't get it. Why? What's the business model? Why are people using it? Why are people talking about it? I just don't get it. I signed up. Only because of the buzz. Did a couple of posts. But have no desire to keep updating. Don't want to see it in my profile when I log into mybloglog. Don't want updates from others...What's the point? It's like IM'ing but letting everyone else read it. The rare times I use IM, it's to communicate to someone. Why would I want anyone else to read it?

I view Twitter as simply a micro-blog platform. I subscribe to your twitter feed rss and view it right next to your main blog feed thru netvibes or my phone's feedreader.

I still don't understand the hype. I'm downloading/installing twitterific on my MacBook now too, hopefully I will see the same light.

Yeah, without Twitterific (and tiny twitter for my phone, which is basically the same thing but mobile) there is no way i'd use twitter. sms would drive me nuts. with that setup, i'm in control vs being killed with notifications.
